Don't pay for what your box truck doesn't need
The market is full of filing shops that sell the new operator the full tractor-trailer package. Your 26-foot truck is built under 26,001 lbs precisely to avoid all of that.
What others charge you for (and doesn't apply)
- IFTAApplies from 26,001 lbs or 3 axles. Your 2-axle box truck doesn't qualify.
- IRP / apportioned platesSame 26,001 lbs or 3-axle threshold. Doesn't apply.
- Form 2290The highway use tax starts at 55,000 lbs. Your truck doesn't reach it.
- CDLNot required below 26,001 lbs GVWR.
- Drug consortium / ClearinghouseThe federal mandate applies to CDL drivers. Yours is outside it.
- ELD / electronic logbookMost qualify for the short-haul exemption and keep time records instead.

Commercial note: the drug-testing program isn't required by federal law for your driver, but brokers and insurers often require it by contract. We offer it separately and always clearly.

Many new operators run into trouble over a missing paper —the most forgotten one is the driver's road test, which on a box truck without a CDL is mandatory. We keep your file complete from day one and go over it with you before that review, so you pass it with peace of mind.
